The last three weeks of our South American Adventure were spent in Brazil visiting Foz do Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Recife, and Salvador. It is hard at this point to believe that we have seen and experienced what we did. That sums up the reason for me that taking photos and preparing coffee table books afterwards. The need to document such a journey is absolutely essential.
A chance placement through International Fellowship over 30 years ago was the background reason for this once in a lifetime journey. Milton Gomes Silva de Fihlo was our student guest for a school year, when our kids were about 14 and he had already finished his Grade 12 in Brazil. We lost touch for a time, but about 10 years ago reconnected again. Since that time his daughter Ana has been to visit us 4 times as she absolutely loves our Canadian Christmas traditions and this year the entire family came to spend the 2014 Christmas Season with us. We went to visit Brazil in March for his graduation from Law . . . . . a promise made and kept several years ago. It was everything we expected and more. The family so warmly greeted us and we were made so welcome. Brazil is an amazing country with a vibrant and colourful culture. The fruits and juices we tasted were amazing. Now my favourite drink just happens to be a caipirinha, their national cocktail, especially a kiwi or strawberry one!!!!
Below is the link to the first week we spent in Brazil at Foz do Iguaçu and Rio de Janiero. Both were amazing.
