Good Morning Las Vegas . … this is what we woke up to early Thursday morning as the sun was just beginning to kiss the horizon.
We then paid a visit to the Valley of Fire which we found quite similar to the other Canyons in Utah. Located in the middle of the Moapa reserve lands and as you drive to it you wonder why anyone would want to come to this god forsaken land. It is just barren and dry. About 11 miles into the reserve area and to the east, the valley of brilliant red rock formations unfolds before your eyes. It is truly breathtaking. It would have been formidable for the early settlers to get through especially with a wagon train.
And yes I did do the trek through very heavy sand, which is tough slogging, to Mouse’s Point, and climbed up the rock face with my camera to catch the vista. That was about as much of an endurance test as climbing up in Arches to get a view of one of the famous arches.
