Day 21 . . . . Joshua Trees & Pie

October 7th, 2013

Soooo, our plans for the day were to see the Joshua Trees . . .. well, foiled again.  Guess what . . .. the feds think they are in charge of another one of God’s creations.   The Park was closed and they made quite sure you didn’t just happen to drive in anyway.  Even some bikers got turned away and they can usually negotiate pretty much any roadblock.  These are some photos that we took from the sidelines.

Then we hunted and hunted for a pie shop that we had visited last time we were here . . . .. it was time for afternoon pie and coffee!! Couldn’t find it after much looking so Rodger found a place called Sherman’s and we were treated to decadent deserts. Turns out it is quite a famous little restaurant and has had many of the movie stars of yesteryear visit there. That kinda makes sense, as Palm Springs used to be the getaway spot for the Los Angeles crowd.

Some photos from that experience.

Terrible picture of me at the pie shop. We never even thought the park would be shut down. I guess the last time we didn’t go thru any park gates but in a hummer up and over the park. However the early afternoon was just a road trip and seeing some the the countryside. Mrs Garmin provided direction for a dessert that just happened to be 40 miles from the Joshua Tree Park but while not perfect for all, was still enjoyable.ReplyCancel
