Up early and on the road by 8 in order to get to San Simeon and allow ourselves a decent amount of time to tour the castle and the gardens. Just had to pay a visit to Monterey Bay before leaving the area.
It was a gorgeous drive along the Coast. So glad that we got to drive through that part of the country. The coastal highway is well worth the extra time it takes rather than taking the Interstate
We stopped at Ragged Point for a much needed coffee and found a hidden jewel right along the coast. What a lucky find.
We stopped for a wee visit to Hearst Castle. Let me just say that my version of the time allotted and Lynn’s version of that are slightly different. I could have stayed overnight! It was good that I actually had a fair amount of knowledge about Hearst castle as I used to watch America’s greatest castles on PBS Sunday morning instead of going to church (shhhhhh).
Sooo Mr. McSpeedy was in fine form today. He wanted to arrive in Simi Valley before dark and we left San Simeon at 4 pm. That is a bit of a challenge unless you have a pilot’s license. My workout sessions with the stairs left me wasted so I had no energy left for any issues with speed and dozed part of the way. The setting sun on the ocean was spectacular, kind of reminding me off what we witnessed at Blade Runner in North Carolina. The Master Painter did a fine job tonight.
