Day 13 . . . Off to Napa Valley

Early liftoff as we wanted to take in a few things in Sacramento and we can’t check into the resort until 4 p.m. The staff at Walley’s were wonderful and I can’t say enough good about them especially Kelly and Mendy.  What a beautiful Sunday morning for a drive.  The sun is shining, the weather warm and the roads quiet. The Highway was rugged . . ..to get to the valley you have to cross the Sierra Leones, a lot like the Jasper area but the rocks are a different colour and the range isn’t as high in elevation, but nevertheless we both commented we wouldn’t want to be driving through this during pounding rain or a snowstorm.

First stop was the Capitol in Sacramento . . .. gorgeous . .. and upon our arrival there we found two beauties celebrating their 15th birthdays which in the Latin culture is called Quinceanera  (A Latina’s 15th Birthday celebration). Now these lovelies certainly perk up a photo gallery . . .

The Capitol Building is very beautiful . ..  although San Francisco boasts that their City Hall is nicer . .. have to go back to form my own opinion. Very stately.  Here are some photos of the grounds.

Interior photos . .. history well preserved . . .. loved it.

We arrived at River Pointe and  it’s very quaint. Our little cottage is right on the Napa River. So even before the car was finished being unpacked I had my camera out and went for a little walkabout. These are not the finest accommodations we have ever had, but would I come back. . . .. . you betcha. The concierge, Marilyn, is the best one in all of our travels, although the fellow at the Savannah Hampton Inn was amazing as well. The  information they give you, the tours and activities they have going on is second to none. We were there three days and went to two wine tastings . . .compliments of the resort. The activities are geared towards vibrant adults, not frail old people!!  Love her spunk!!!!

I guess it is kinda obvious I loved our location and the communing with nature. There is something magical for me about water and reflections.
