A glorious day all around. A leisurely morning sleep in, coffee, another nap, more coffee and eventually . . . . failure to launch was a bit of an issue today . . . a trip to the hair stylist to get rid of the shaggy dawg/scruffy look. Went to a recommended salon and they couldn’t take me as of course I needed it NOW so they sent me to another salon. What a treat . .. I came out feeling like a million bucks . .. sooooo if you are ever in the area I would highly recommend Kristie Scherbak at Deja Vu Salon in Minden . . . she turned my shaggy mane into a delightful style that I just love.
There was a plaque on the wall that to me was profound . … I should tape this to my mirror and read it every morning . .. absolutely inspirational
The weather was beautiful and the resort was humming today as every hotel/resort in the whole area fills up in anticipation of Candy Fest tomorrow. The aroma in the foyer was divine . .. sorta apple spice . . .. the sun’s rays were low and beaming in . . .. and it just put everyone in a festive autumn mood.
The resort is running shuttles back and forth to the festival all day long and the town literally closes the roads from all directions, as the influx of 60,000 people poses a bit of a parking problem.
Really looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what photo opportunities I come up with.
Anyone following this blog would probably notice that I have fallen in love with this resort. We have done a lot of traveling in the last few years and I don’t believe any of them have been set in such beauty. It is quite long with buildings spanning a distance of about 1/4 of a mile or more. Lynn and I disagree on this small point!
The prairie/pastureland to the East provides tranquil and quiet beauty and the ruggedness of the mountains (okay, Albertans would call them large hills!!) to the west reminds you of how rugged the West really is and what the pioneers had to endure to survive here, let alone get here. Quite an endurance test and not for the feint of heart.
As I was taking this photo, I thought I should name it “A River Runs Through It” I like to give my photographs names . .. it gives them personality.
See what I mean . .. .
My camera and I did another walkabout today . . the water was still providing amazing reflections and the sky was soooo blue. In photospeak, a perfect f/16 day.
Some more snippets . . . the beauty here is amazing and it is anything but a concrete jungle!
