Day 9 . . . . A good day for a driveabout

I think I invented a new word . . .. driveabout . ..  . Crocodile Dundee used to say he was going for a walkabout . .. today we went for a driveabout!!

Still taking it leisurely and this really does for the first time in my life feel like a vacation and not a marathon with a thousand things to see in a short period of time.  Very cool and windy today (Manulife girls will be happy about that) and not going to get over 60F . . ..  apparently the higher elevations are going to get snow. It was a mere 10C at the higher elevations . .. quite nippy actually with the wind.

We opened the window to get fresh air last night and some breeze and woke up to a lovely fresh and crisp room temperature of 57F.  Now that clears any cobwebs that might be lurking about in your head.

Went for a 3 hour drive to the south of us and traveled the Robert W. Jackson Memorial Highway through one of the passes.  Very lovely . . .. the sky changed every few minutes . . . the scenery was rugged.  Have a preoccupation with elevation these days as we get ourselves ready for Cuzco and Machu Pichu.  Today we hit 8338 ft. . . .. after which of course we were quite the pair . .. deaf and deafer!  I will leave it to folks to decide which was which.  My ears still haven’t cleared and visiting at the dinner table was a whole lot of sign language.

Photos taken during the drive through the mountain pass . .. . rugged and scenic

Dinner ….. we shared everything and still took home 3 containers of leftovers

Tomorrow . .. off to Carson City or Virginia City or both . .. .want to embrace the Old West era. This weekend there is a festival in Genoa that brings 60,000 people to the region . … now that should be quite interesting.
