What a delightful evening we had. Michael treated his Dad to Father`s Day dinner and I got to tag along. Can`t speak highly enough of the neatest little restaurant tucked away on Jasper Avenue . . Corso 32 . . . Italian flavour and fine dining all to be had at a very affordable price. The food was divine, beautifully flavoured and fabulous presentation. What a treat. I will let the photos speak for themselves.
For starters we had Proscuitto Di Parma . . . . Shaved Nectarine, DCC `Terre di Sienna`, EVOO, Black Pepper
We all chose different entrees, Lynn chose Alberta Whitefish with fried potatoes, escarole, anchovy vinaigrette, pistachios
My selection was 1/2 Game Hen `Alla Mattona`with green beans, marcona almond and lemon granolata . . . . . it has been a long time since I have had a meal this tasty with such delightful combinations of flavours.
Michael went with Fried Short Rib with shaved pear & arugula salad . . . . the short ribs were fork tender . . knife not needed
More treats ahead . . obviously we HAD TO HAVE dessert . .. .
The men went with Warm Apple Crostata served with home made fior di Latte gelatto . . I sneaked a bit of the gelatto . . mmmmmmm good My choice was the divine confection known as Vanilla Panna Cotta with vin cotto, pistachios, honey grappa . . I must say the only way to define it is silk on a plate . . . divine . . . to die for.
The chefs are obviously amazing . . . Abe served us in such a pleasant and friendly manner and was immediately on top of the celiac issue. I would heartily recommend that anyone go there. We had the high table just beside the window . .. loved it as the lighting was perfect for photography.
